Lib Dems are working to combat anti-social behaviour in the area

Combatting Anti-Social Behaviour

Fishguard is a fantastic town, with a strong community, independent businesses and plenty to be proud of. But concerns about anti-social behaviour and criminal damage are leaving some residents and businesses worried about their town.

From damage to property to disturbances affecting people living and working in the town centre, anti-social behaviour can have a real impact on people's everyday lives.

Local business owner and Town Councillor Caleb Churchill has been listening to residents and businesses about their experiences. He believes that everyone deserves to feel safe and welcome in their community, and that local people should have a say in how problems are tackled.

The Fishguard and Goodwick Town Council is engaging with the local police team to help address concerns about youth anti-social behaviour, including encouraging targeted patrols in areas experiencing problems.

But tackling anti-social behaviour isn't just about enforcement. It's also about understanding the causes, supporting young people and making sure everyone can enjoy our town.

We can't allow Fishguard to be spoiled for the people who live, work and visit here.

What are the concerns in Fishguard?

We want to hear from residents about the issues affecting them, including:

🚧 Criminal damage – Damage to buildings, businesses and public spaces, leaving residents and business owners facing the cost of repairs.

🔊 Noise and disturbances – Disruptive behaviour that affects people living, working or visiting the town centre.

⚠️ Feeling unsafe – Behaviour that leaves people feeling intimidated or uncomfortable using public spaces.

🛍️ Impact on local businesses – Disturbances that make it harder for independent businesses to operate and welcome customers.

👥 Opportunities for young people – Whether better activities, facilities and support could help prevent problems before they start.

We know that everyone's experiences will be different. That's why we want to understand how widespread these concerns are, where problems are happening and what residents believe would make the biggest difference.

What is being done?

Dyfed-Powys Police has identified youth anti-social behaviour in Fishguard as a local policing priority and announced targeted patrols to engage with young people and address reported problems.

The police have also identified concerns around e-scooters, scrambler bikes and shoplifting in the Fishguard area.

Caleb and the local Liberal Democrat team want to ensure that residents' concerns are heard and that practical solutions are explored.

This includes listening to people affected by anti-social behaviour, working with the Town Council and police, and understanding what more could be done to support young people and protect our town centre.
