As Chair of Pembrokeshire Liberal Democrats, I'd like to say Croeso / Welcome, to our website.
I hope that you will look at it's content and we aim to update it regularly to keep you up to date on our activities, as well as those of the Party here in Wales and across the UK. So please add it to your "FAVOURITES" list and come back to us. And why not contact us, or join us!
Across Wales, Liberal Democrats already hold key political positions with Kirsty Williams as Cabinet Secretary for Education in the Welsh Assembly and here in Pembrokeshire, Bob Kilmister holds the key Finance portfolio on the County Council. I sense that the strong campaigning role we are taking currently, is leading to a huge surge in our support in the County, Wales and the UK as a whole.
As the Lib Dems are the only UK-wide party to have consistently fought BREXIT you will not be surprised to hear that remaining in the EU is our top focus currently. In just the last couple of weeks local members, in association with Pembrokeshire for Europe, have been out campaigning in Haverfordwest, Fishguard and Narberth. This disastrous Tory BREXIT would be hugely damaging for Pembrokeshire, in particular our farming sector, and we are committed to fighting until BREXIT is finally rejected.
We are a friendly bunch and welcome involvement by new members. So why not join us. We have been active across the county in recent months with Brexit stalls to support the Party's call for a People's Vote. We also had a well supported stall at the 2018 County Show in Haverfordwest. But we are also campaigning about other issues, both locally and nationally. If you would like to help, click volunteer or even better, become a member. Join the party of over 100,000 members and play your part in a variety of ways, including attending Conference and getting involved in developing and voting on policy motions.
Every member is entitled to attend Welsh Conference (held twice a year) and Federal Conference. We are currently working on identifying a venue in the county, to hold the Welsh Liberal Democrat Conference, hopefully the Autumn 2020 Conference. It was last held in the County at Fishguard, in the mid 90's, so we feel it's time that the Welsh Party came back to Pembrokeshire.
The threat of BREXIT means we face uncertain times, unprecedented in the thirty years I have been active in Liberal politics. But opinion polls are showing increasing support for centre parties as voters start to reject the extreme positions taken by the two old parties. There has never been a better time to get involved with the Lib Dems! If you have any questions or comments then contact us or ring 01437 604017.
